It's not the cam cover gaskets that are the source of the filled plug wells - there are hard rubber "grommets" that cap the plug well tops to the cam covers. Unless you are talking about an exterior leak, these are the culprits.
They run about $14 each (x6) at the dealer, so here's a temporary fix, that should last you 5k to 10k miles - RTV the grommets. What I just did on my non-running 91's was, pull the cam cover, carefully remove the grommets, clean them up, RTV the grommet to cam cover seal area, replace the grommet, then RTV the grommet to plug well surface (on the grommet). When you replace the cam cover gaskets (reusable if in decent shape), remove the old RTV beads & re-RTV in those sharp corners.
a couple of bucks for RTV vs. $90 for grommets. Again, this is a temp fix, and not "the right way", but it'll get you through the winter nicely. Good luck Jason.
If you decide you are going to replace the cam cover gaskets as well, look at the upper gasket set from SHO Nut. Cheap in the long run, & you get every gasket known to man in it...
