Alright, these codes are being pulled off my 91 w/3.2 MTX. Utilizing the X2J computer and have yet to see a CE light while the car is running... everything is in stored memory and I cleared the codes just last week to get a fresh baseline. The only driveability issues I am having is a stalling problem when pulling up fast to a stop light or corner (only happens occasionally, not every time... rpms fall to low and car stalls.) I cleaned the IAB and still have the problem. So, codes are as follows:

157-Clean MAF?

211-CPS?, but it's only ~3000 miles old

214-CID bad?

452-VSS, what should I do here?

528-A/C was NOT on

542-I have heard to ignore this since car stalled?

557-Fuel pump possibly on its' last leg?

I have done my homework on each of the codes, but wanted to run them by the experts and see where I should begin. Luckily, I have access to almost every used part necessary to diagnose these things but still don't like throwing parts on to see if I get lucky. Please help asap, but overall the driveability is NOT affected... still pulls hard and is a blast.

***On a possibly unrelated note***
I have code 6 airbag light (think it's the clockspring :madflame:) and I've tried 3 different ones. I currently have no cruise and I didn't know if that may correlated to code 528 and the ac switch?

TIA, to anyone and everyone with any insight... this car has had almost every gasket/sensor replaced and I want ZERO CE lights if at all possible. The stalling issue is a bit scary when you lose p/s and what not coming up to a sharp corner and you have to depress the clutch and turn the key... last minute voila fires back up and you make your turn.

I was under the assumption that the 211 code and the 214 code usually point to a bad ground or connection with the DIS. Have you checked the DIS and its intake path for a solid ground?

452-VSS - This is why your car is stalling when you come to a stop. The VSS is located on top of the trans, the speedo cable goes through it. IIRC its a large 21mm nut or so to get it off.

I agree with above. If the VSS is not giving a correct signal, your rpms will come down much quicker than they should. If that happens,a nd the car stumbles like you say then starts back up, most of your other codes could arise as a result of that. That would be where I would start, then you can recheck and see if any of the codes come back.

Adam, try the VSS and see if that helps. If you need another one let me know, I've got tons.

Air bag flashing 6 time probable cause is the driver air bag circuit inoperable.

The manual says:
Deactivate the air bag system.
Verify the air bag indicator while slowly rotating the steering wheel assembly.
Does the airbag indicator still flash fault code 6 and/or flash intermittently?

If yes:

Disconnect air bag clockspring harness wiring connector at base of steering column.
Place a jumper wire across circuits 614 (GY/O) and 615 (PK) of the clockspring harness connector.
Verify air bag indicator.
Does the air bag indicator still flash fault code 6:

If yes:

Remove jumper wire from air bag clockspring wiring connector.
Disconnect diagnostic monitor connectors.
Visually inspect connector to ensure that pin 11, circuit 614 (GY/O) and pin 10, circuit 615 (GY/W) are touching.
Attach ohmmeter to pin 11, circuit 614 (GY/O) on the monitor wiring connector and to circuit 614 (GY/O) clockspring wiring connector.
Is resistance less than 1 ohm?

If yes:

Attach ohmmeter to pin 11, circuit 614 (GY/O) on diagnostic monitor wiring connector and to circuit 615 (GY/W) on the clockspring connector.
Is resistance less than 1 ohm?

If yes, install a new diagnostic monitor. Reconnect system, reactivate system and verify the air bag lamp.

If no to any of the above, let me know which step 'cause I'm tire of typing right now. :)

Had the same problem, runner-to-tank gaskets were bad. Before, I cleaned the MAF and tried 3 different [known good] ones.

How do I go about doing this? I know how to work on the system, but I've never had the battery hooked up when doing so... TIA.

Well, I cleaned the MAF element and diagnosed my VSS issue I believe... it was UNPLUGGED  I mean I am happy to find easy fixes, but man I hate it when it's something so dumb. Anyways, I'm going to clear the memory and drive it today and see what she pukes out for codes tomm. Thanks again everybody and please advise me on how to deactivate the airbag system when someone gets a chance. :salute:

Only have went about 10 miles, but stalling problem seems to have been taken care of by the obvious VSS deletion  I plan on checking the stored codes again in a couple days to see if any of the other gremlins have come back. Still no word on how to "deactivate" the airbag system though eh?

Thanks again everyone,

OK, I went through every step and it looks as though the "airbag diagnostic monitor" is bad... please check out this link if you happen to have one that matches the pic. Thanks again everyone!

Got a replacement airbag monitor from Dan "the man" :hail: and voila code 6 is GONE! I can't believe that was what was causing the clockspring code to fire, but it was. Thanks again everone... especially you Beth :naughty:
