The crankshaft damper bolt is a normal thread bolt (righty tighty, lefty loosey), but it takes a lot of torque to loosen it. We usually let the starter do the work when the engine is still mounted in the car. It has a 19mm hex head and air wrenches require the use of a high tensile strength impact socket.
