PLEASE help (antenna)

I have a 94 SHO and my power antenna sticks so when you turn off the radio (car) you have to go to it and help it down until it grabs . I was wondering if it would be easier to replace it with a fixed antenna (lighter and more horses I hope ) or if it would be better just to fix it and hope it doesn't happen again. Please help me.
