Ok guys, just wanted to get some input on an Iowa SHO meeting. I will organize the meeting, but I would like some input from you guys.

First option would be a meeting with the Central Iowa Mustang Club at Marshalltown for one of their autocrosses. The mustang club is always supportive of SHO's being at their events. I am planning on the July 8th autocross. There is a small racetrack there for you race your SHO around and a big parking lot for us to hangout in. I think it cost about $40 dollars to race and you need a helmet. It is free to watch.

Second option would a dyno day at Midstate Machine Shop Services of Des Moines. They charge $450 for a half a day with the dyno. So there is more a finical commitment with the dyno day, but we can schedule that for any open Saturday, but I was thinking the 8th of July again. The price for a dyno pull depends on how many people come. Once again, it will be free to watch, but we would have to go somewhere after the dyno to meet since they do not want us just hanging around after they close at noon on Saturdays.

Let me know your thoughts.

where is midstate machine shop in des moines?

I'm up for either one, I think the Mustang meet might be more fun though - and a little closer for people in cedar rapids/waterloo

I still have to bring the SHO out of hibernation... that is if it still runs  I honestly don't care either way what goes down, but I think it'd be a great idea to meet up again. This should be far enough in advance that people can plan ahead. FYI, the marshalltown thing is pretty fun from past expieriences :thumb:

For the record, I spared you the harassment and didn't say anything about the spin out... you said it yourself

Do you have a rough guestimate on how many people plan on showing up? I'll probably talk to a friend and see if he wants to go up. He's got a 95 mustang GT convertible and I'd love to see his yellow pony get taken down by a taurus...I'm sure he'd love to see it too :)

Eric,
Hey, saw you yesterday (Sunday) afternoon in DSM, looks like you were on your way back from drill? Boone, perhaps? I was on my way down to visit my gf w/ my friend Brock, she's interning at Dillards over at Jordan Creek. Pretty sharp car there, nice rims. I'm still living in the twin cities at the moment, but will be moving down to ames in June, then am buying a townhome in ankeny at the end of june. The company I'm working for is starting a new office in Ankeny. Right now we are based out of the twin cities with a few other offices in duluth and rochester MN. Right now I'm down in the DSM ames area pretty much every weekend. Drive down thurs. night, meetings and such on friday, then just stay down there all weekend and drive back sunday night to the twin cities. What's new with you?

BTW Adam, you best dust off the 91 and be in Marshalltown :thumb:

Hey Noah,
I figured it was you when I saw the SHO and knew once when I saw your plates. Glad to hear you are doing well. Yeah, playing army boy again last weekend. Where are you getting a townhome in Ankeny? I looked there for a while too. Of course, I am now marrying my realtor so I guess I got a good deal. Let me know if you need help finding a place, she works primarily with young people and town homes and even knows what a SHO is.

Hey Iowa

It seems that we want to do the autocross event so I am going to get a hold of the Mustang Club and line it up. Put July 8th on your calendar. We will probably meet up around 9:00. Go for a short drive for lunch and leave Marshalltown around 3:00 or 4:00.

Eric,
Yeah, I'm getting a townhome through Hubbell Homes. It's their Creekside Brownstones on the north side of Ankeny, just west of I-35. ~1,800 sq ft, 3 levels, 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 2 car garage, and most importantly geothermal heating and cooling. The geothermal was a big selling point with me esp. with the cost of natural gas skyrocketing these days. I'll be interested to see how much I'll save. The gf and her current roommate (my friend Brock (old high school buddy) who was with me Sunday) are moving into the townhome with me. There is a possibility that an old college buddy may be moving in as well if he gets a teaching position in Bondurant that he applied for. Congrads on the engagement! Hopefully I'll be able to make the July 8 date, sounds like fun! :thumb:

I just went to the Mustang club meet on May 7th, it was a real blast! Definitely worth it! If you guys don't mind, could we open it up to non-SHO people too? I've got some friends who'd probably love to take their car up to the track, wouldn't hurt to have more people pitching in money either.

Keep in mind this is not our event. I would talk with the Mustang Club. I certainly don't mind if people just want to show up, but it is their autocross.
