Hey guys, the guru who's helping me out with ordering my custom pistons has requested factory piston/deck clearance data. Sitting here with a broken thumb it's not too convenient to pull my engine down right the moment, so if anybody can get the measurements I'd really appreciate it.

This is for a 3.2, in case it matters. Anybody have a short block handy? Can someone measure the difference between the crown of the piston and the deck at TDC?

Compression height 1.315. Deck height is in Helms, along with rod length which should all help calculate a few thousandths above deck (postive deck height). Let me know if you determine quench distance.

Umm, yeah I COULD calculate it, but I'd rather use the more error proof method of measurement. SHO DOOD, I anxiously await your data! Thanks!

If you don't mind too much, would you share the measurements.

Oddly, in the motorcycle world, you can find all that data and calculate/adjust the quench size with a swap of a gasket.

Calculating it is much easier than removing a head . . . do you want the formula?

the dome protrudes .005" above the deck. I used .016" parallels and got a .011 feeler under the straightedge at the sides of the casting flash in the center of the piston.

Considering the edge of the piston displayed a clearance of .005....if the casting flash was removed (along with the raised lettering) the dome would be .010-.011 in height
