The previous owner of my project car left it parked under a pine tree once. Now it has several drips and runs of pine sap on the paint and glass.

Anyone have suggestions for a safe and effective removal of this stuff?

Hoping that some member has seen this before..... but not on their SHO.

Prepsol from an automotive supply store, just auto stores won`t have it.Even still,it takes all day and you might now get 100% off. It`s a PITA to remove.

I had sap drip on my windshield and I just used a razor blade flat. I wouldn't use this on the paint though.

It's tuff stuff but you could use wd-40 or if your super careful spray wd-40 and use a heat gun to soften even faster then wipe. Hair drier actually might work and would be safer.

I tried bug and tar remover, which of course doesn't work. I have actually used gas to take it off, and it never harmed the paint.

there's something in stores called goo gone, and I've had excellent luck with that. It makes the sap just flake off.

You got it SHO91mtx...Goo Gone will take the sap off quite nicely....may take a bit of elbow grease, but it will do a good job

If you had some rubbing alchohol and a cotton rag around already you might try that. My old driveway used to be under a bunch of pine trees. Lacquer thinner works really good too, I just ran out of that so I tried something else.

Living in Pinehurst, NC, we've got lots of pine sap problems. The best solution, if you don't mind rewaxing, is denatured alcohol. It won't harm the paint, but it does dull the wax some. It's the best way to get sap off quickly.
