The idea of that kid with a Large bottle of Vodka in his hand having a 400+ Horsepower car is reason enough for me to not drive for a while.

In anycase, Good Job on the quick progress of this build. You guy's certainly seem to have a handle on putting together a Turbo SHO.

Having spent some time with John in Carlisle this year I will say that while he enjoys the Vodka, he did fork his keys over before getting trashed. A pretty responsible thing to do and definitely not a decision i was making at that age.

I figured as much. He's pretty responsible for his age. Much more so than I was.

John seems to have his head on strait, but we need to discuss why you're playing favorites here Sam. You could have your own little possy of E-Thugs at your disposal...

lol. he is pretty responsible. he said he would never drink and drive, and he didn't at the convention, more than i can say for a lot of people I do know. anyway, I will post some more pics in a few, we got the injectors put in and the adjustable FPR put on, the turbo is mounted and the y-pipe is on, so we are defiantly getting there. hopefully we will have the whole setup done today, and tomorrow get the SAFC and the tweecer hooked up and the gauges installed. thanks for everyones support so far!

Looks great guys. To anyone with concerns about the sharp bend, stop stressing. The absolute best gain you can get in a NA car from going to a quality hiflow Y from the stock one is about 10-12whp. What people fail to realize is that most of that HP is coming from the less restrictive catalytic converters. The larger mandrel bent pipes do add some as well, but they are not the whole picture. On a turbocharged setup, even if an overly restrictive pipe costs you 20+whp, that is easliy made up for with a small bump in boost. Having a smooth and non restrictive flow is much more an issue with a downpipe than with an uppipe. Even the pipes I had made have a less than ideal looking sharp bend in them. There is simply not enough room to work with in that very cramped area. The biggest area where the sharp bend might come into play would be in the spool time for a large frame turbo. But with the HP requirements of this car, along with the turbo choice, it simply will not have any ill effect, as evidenced by their previous dyno sheets.

Keep us updated. Looking forward to more pics.

Thanks Toolman. I am sure that it won't affect it at all. I can't wait to put down around 400hp with this setup. It is going to be out of control fast and I just am so excited. Thanks everyone for all of the nice comments. More pics to come soon.

Looking good down there! We need some more of this industriousness up here. As for all the backbiting, it's par for the forum lately it seems- whatever you have is fastest, whatever you have is best, and whatever someone else is doing different than you did/would do isn't the best way. There is always a faster car, y'all. Props on the build!

It does seem like there has been a lot of that going on lately on the forums, I don't know what the deal is. I mean I'm not building this to try and out do people. I'm building this because its what I have wanted for like 3 years now. And I'm not going to let peoples negativity get me down. For the 2 or 3 people that were rude in there comments, 22 people said good positive things. I think that some people are just jealous that I'm actually doing it instead of just talking about it.

and how did you do your turbo again?

ashley and johnathon :snicker:

Um, I'm sorry but I'm irritated now..

I like how people are talking smack on my project And I noticed that the people that are saying negative things, don't even have a boosted SHO, "are going to turbo it"...............eventually? or even own a SHO at all! Um so yeah, thats all I have to say on that. I do appreciate constructive criticism, but it just doesn't come across that way. I mean saying "it doesn't look that great" goes beyond being useful, and is rude.

But thank you to the people that do appreciate what we are doing, you all are awesome!

Johnathon

I like how people are talking smack on my project

I dont think anyone was really talking "smack" in the general usage of the term. You should have seen TT turbo bob's thread that was smack talk. :nut:

I understand both of your points, getting a little irritated with someone giving some not so positive criticism. I just think its sad that whenever these talks come up, anyone with F/I's first arguement is "Where is your boosted SHO?" "How did you build your turbo sho?"

So not having a turbo sho means that we dont have any knowledge on the matter? I'd love to have a boosted SHO, unfortunately helping to support a father who underwent back surgery is my main priority, a big reason my car is still in parts.

My Point is not everyone is running around blowing smoke saying their going to turbo their SHO and never really will. I dont know if i ever will, so i dont say im gonna, doesn't mean im completely uneducated in the matter.

Sorry guys, maybe i took it the wrong way, but how much money someone has to spend on their car should have no bearing on the matter, I know a guy who knows more about Turbos and anything having to do with them then anyone i will ever know, and he drives a D series 1.5 sohc stock civic.

That said, i think its incredible what you guys do with what you have. No offense to you but i was very surprised when you put down 400whp, thats no small feat, not that i thought it wouldnt make alot of power, but there are alot of higher dollar turbo and SC SHOs out there putting down around the same. its amazing to see these cars go from a mediocre sports sedan to a beast that will hang with or beat most new cars out there.

To sum it up: Keep up the great work! looks great, and your both stand up people(?) Ash and Paul, for offering your know how to locals who share the same enthusiasm as you do in these cars.

P.S. WHERE the **** are you working on this car? That garage looks bigger then thee biggest shop in town here. Oh em gee if only i had a lift...
