Nice cleanup job on the exterior, but what oil was used in that poor thing? That looks a lot like a Pennzoil/Quaker State result. So sorry.

I've used 20w50 Castrol for the last 9 months. Prior to that, who knows. I think the car sat around for a few months prior to me buying it, but gee whiz  When we changed the front crank seal, oil was gummed up all around that bad boy (it WAS one of the BIG sources of oil leakage  ) I wish Id took a picture...

Why use such a heavy oil? The 20W-50 is way over the recommended oil weights.

Sorry
I'll try to get them back up.
Terry suggested 10w40... I guess Ill go to that. (20w50 is what my dad has always used in his vehicles, and he used to be a mechanic, so that is what I,ve used...)

how about you forget 20w50, 10w40 and go to what ford recommends. 10w30 in 100*+ environments, or 5w30 in environments like new england. Catrol GTX my friend.

Probably trying to save an egine. Wouldn't the bearings be messed up after running such a heavy oil and putting in thinner oil would ruin them?
