Pick tool

I have managed to find a tappet compressor tool and tappet holder tool. I cannot quickly get the pick tool. Is the pick tool absolutely necessary for the valve lash adjustment?

It will save you a lot of time. They can be had at almost any automotive store....keep your eyes open for one.

Where did you get the tappet compressor and holder?

Got my pick tool at the local Home Depot in the tool department. Made by Stanly had both the angled and stright end. Only like $5 also.

Thats all you need is a typical double ended pick tool. Straight on one end and 90° on the other. I got mine from a Snap-On, but I'm sure you can get it at any Sears and HomeDepot.

This is SHO91MTX. I used the soldering holder kit from sears. 9 bucks and 3 tools of all shapes and sizes. Works great.

Where did you get the tappet compressor and holder?

Got them from Kanata Ford in Ottawa. They will order the pick tool if I ask them to, but they said it will take 6-8 weeks to get it.

If your talking the pick tool to remove the shims - just use a magnetic pick-up tool - the kind thats like an antenna.

Pick tool? We dont need no stinking pick tool. I use a magnet antenna as well. Works great and you dont drop the shims.

It is very helpful to have a pick tool with a magnet (or parts retrieval magnet) to remove and replace the shims.
