Watched a youtube video about a guy that bought an ex PI police Taurus, and it came equipped with a bolt in rear frame reinforcement. Was this an aftermarket reinforcement or available OEM? It connected the rear strut towers together. If this is OEM, would it be a beneficial addition?

I have a 2013 PI and it has this reinforcement. Do you have a link to that video?

From my understanding, they added it to help survivability of 75 MPH crashes.

I'm almost sure it was factory stock, but maybe it was just an option. Some PI features were optional, like the 'bullet proof' front doors.

It probably has some beneficial effects on frame rigidity, but it is definitely heavy being welded steel square tube.
