Yesterday, we installed a set of OEM wheels that have permachromed. It's almost like a powder coat and will not peel or pit like chrome.

Mods are H&R springs, wheels, Corsa Exhaust, Livernois tune and very dark tint.

I just had an eyegasm.

I need to man up and get my SHO tuned. I am such a namby pamby. Then again I dont have 10k sitting around in the event my motor blows. That and I'm still uncertain about tunes at 5,200ft.

I'd love to have a livernois tuned SHO, I'd have to get a Livernois windshield banner.

Car looks great.
Can you fill me in on this permachrome treatment? Where'd you have it done? Cost? Prep?
Thanks,
Bill

These guys have some sort of exchange program they do. Nothing on cost but they have a few 20" SHO pics.

http://uswheelexchange.com

It looks like $838.50 (exchange) per their eBay store

These are from the same guys in the Metro Detroit area. They are great to work with and the quality is top notch....Tell Marcus Ray sent ya!

It's a vapor deposition coating vs triple chrome plate....he's not talking about the entire wheel just the plating difference---and that is definitely possible; however, there is a powder clearcoat after the deposition coating....

dude, its like saying my town is 100% closer then rochester

100 closer to what ? the moon? the sun? the nearest **********? The sentence needs a 3rd reference point to make even the slightest bit of sense

on top of that, since chrome offers a weight ADDITION over plain painted, "100 times lighter" is impossible

now if chrome was LIGHTER then paint by (random # here) 4oz per wheel AND permachome was therefore 400oz lighter per wheel, then yes their sentence would be correct

but like i said, they need a 3rd reference point, and for chrome to be the middle weight option weight ...... the first isnt given and the seconds just not possible

This leads me to beleive they are talking out of their ass.

have a nice day :)

Uh...no that's not true.

Example: (These number are hypothetical...I don't know the actual weights)

Weight of chrome over the weight of the wheel: 500 g

Weight of permachrome over the weight of the wheel: 5 g

Now the claim 5g x 100g = 500g would be correct....100 times lighter

And truly....I don't care..but you don't need a third reference to make the claim true.....

(They didn't say 100%, they said 100 times.....ONE IS IMPOSSIBLE THE OTHER IS NOT)

And if we're going to be picky, you should be using "than" rather than "then" in your comparisons above. :naughty:

Weight of chrome over the weight of the wheel: 500 g

Weight of permachrome over the weight of the wheel: 5 g

so the math looks like this:

500/100 = 5

woops .... looks like to turn 500 into 5, we have to divide, no multiplication allowed.

the proper sentence to describe this would be "Permachrome is 1/100th the weight of chrome plating !" but they dont do that because 100 times lighter is a marketing gimmick. its SOUNDS more impressive.

Wheels look great Rick! I'll have to check it out in person. I'll be bringing the Flex in for tuning anyway.

Thinking about swapping out with BLACK CHROME wheels from US wheel exchange. I loved the looks of Beefcake's black rimes, but they were powder coated.

I have never seen black chrome in person... Does anybody have any thoughts of black chrome with a tux black SHO?

Wow, the thought of it makes me happy. Would LOVE to see how it looks! As a owner of a Tuxedo Black SHO, I've been contemplating whether I should powder-coat the wheels or not... but Black Chrome?? That sounds like it would look great! :naughty:
