I like, especially if he were to use a metal flake paint. Or at least 2-3 coats and 2-3 coats of clear to deepen it up.

I honestly think it will happen. I have went to far on this car to turn back now. I was originally thiking original but Now I say hey I am only getting this chance once. I am on my way to talk to the painter today about the Graphics he is putting on it,shaving the trunk stuff, and yes the COLOR. We are also doing the pillers for the doors and the mirrors body color. also Silver ghost flames under the KANDY Tangerine. They will come and go in light. Also yes Several coats of Clear and wet sanded will be the trick. He is wanting the car for two months to finish it then it will take me one month to put back together. So it will be pushing for car show season. But definatly ready for CONVENTION

I think that's a really nice color on that car. It will be very unique, and look really attractive at car SHOws! :D

Tim, what color is that from? It looks very nice :) .

Also, the more coats of clearcoat applied, the better for when you wetsand it and buff it. The paint will look DEEEP when you look at it from a couple inches away.

I say, for a show car, a good 4-5 coats of clear would be best. After wetsanding and buffing, you will still have atleast 3 coats left...

Also, I would leave the window frames(between windows) and the mirrors black...not body color, especially if the windows are tinted. But, that is just IMHO. * This would make the windows look they just flooooww together, instead of just being placed in there. *

Be aware that painting the "B" pillar will make the car look taller & shorter. That's why certian factory models like the SHO used black on the "B" pillars...to make the car look lower & longer. But if you like it then go for it.

I remember seeing a brite yellow Gen-I or Gen-II with painted "B" pillars & looked kinda starnge, IMO.

That red color would be sweet. I would go through with it. If you have a good painter then it should be very nice.

Well the Kandy Tangerine is out of the question now. I think it would be too much material on the car 12 to 14 total coats of material. That is too much for me. I am still looking into Burnt Orange,Manderain Orange, And the New Jeep Orange with something in the Base or Clearcoat to make it look different. All Opinions welcome. I am leaning Original until I see something that is just a must have thing. I do like the new Jeep Orange the best out of the oranges though. Seen it at the Auto Show. I have the paint color also so I may just go that way. Oh well ramble over now

The number of coats of paint doesn't mean what it did in the past. I know of people in the past that did the 7-14 coats of laquer based paints ect.. Todays paints with the base coat clear coat system are completely differnt. The bases have very little build to them they are mainly used for the color. The build comes in the clear. In a standard base coat clear coat paint job I'll have between 6 to 8 coats. If its a two tone or 3 stage or like the candys it will be more, but all of them will only have 3-4 coats of clear. What you need to worry about it the mill thickness. And most of the mill thickness will come with the clear not the 8 coats of base ok?

Short answer: If your painter knows what they are doing it will be ok do the red.
