Hello all,

I have a 95 ATX that has an intermittent no start when hot condition. I extracted the DTC's and got a 212. I also noticed that when the no start condition occurs, the CE light doesn't go out while cranking. (It will go out at all other times during cranking) For now I have cleaned up the DIS grounds and applied some heat sink compound to the backside of the DIS. Any other tips/suggestions?

TIA, Adam.

Checked your starter? Mine is doing that and it's my tempermental starter. I have a MTX so I just keep the key turned and pump the clutch until it starts. It works for now. That was the next thing on my list until I woke up this morning with a broken window and no head-unit.

Anyone know what the 212 code means? 'Ignition TACH signal was erratic (module/wiring) or SPOUT circuit fault'

Cam or Crank sensor, most likely. Do you get a Tach signal (like 200rpms, or is it dead 0?). If no Tach, it's a crank sensor. If you get tach, try starting the car about 4-5 times, and if it catches, it's likely the cam sensor.

Further testing concluded that the CID and PIP sensors are OK.

quoted from the link above,

"Connect DMM or LED test light between the IDM wire(GY/O Grey/Orange stripe) and negative battery terminal and crank the engine. Again 3 to 7 volts or the LED light blinks. If NOT DIS wiring or module faulty. If OK, next test."

This wire will show .2 to .4 volts during it's little no start fit. I've tried swapping the DIS module with a known working unit with no success.

Further checks with my DMM showed a resistance as high as 6 ohms between the - battery post and any underhood ground whether it be a body or engine ground. It shows 0 ohms when it starts again.

You have now entered.....The Twilight Zone.....

Then you have a bad ground.

Pay particular attention to that small ground wire that runs from the negative terminal of the battery to the passenger side strut tower.
