Greetings all. I have a new 2015 SHO with the 401-A and Driver Assist packages but no PP. I am wondering if there are any performance upgrades that I could get that would not invalidate the warranty. With the factory warranty and the extended service warranty that I just purchased, I am warranty covered for six years.

Thanks in advance for any help.

If you stick with the performance packages that most people use, you should be ok, warranty/no warranty. Luckily, there is a consumer-oriented law that protects you from unreasonableness on the part of the manufacturer. California you might need to be more careful with the emissions stuff, even high-flow cats could pose a problem, so find a "friendly" dealer/inspector.

Avoid any custom work to the engine/drivetrain.
Get a tune from top tuners only. Return to stock/2 bar MAP for dealer/warranty service.
3 bar MAP, TStat, CAI, downpipes, catback are all fine.
Timely maintenance IS a performance upgrade in its' own right :)

SHOdded, thanx for the info. I live only about 30-40 miles from Livernois Motorsports so that should be helpful.

My turbos are both leaking oil and the dealership is claiming that the exhaust exceeded the tolerances for the turbos, so they won't cover the repair under warranty. I've got a shop I'm working with in order to counter their claim. But just realize that it's probably going to be better if you can return the car to stock in order to perform warranty work.

How many miles and what year SHO? Also how long did you drive tuned and with the exhaust?

Yes, the over speeding turbos claim.

I wonder how that works with the factory diverters controlling the boost???

I would ask them for the warranty denial in writing including supporting documentation (proof) of their claims.

IMHO LME plays things safe and I seriously doubt their pipes have anything to do with the turbos leaking. Maybe they can help with a technical explanation of why the dship is full of ****.

Hey, I've learned to speaker Dealernese... Translation: "Damn those turbos are an expensive piece of kit; what if Ford challenges us on it and doesn't pay us? We'd have no proof you didn't screw with them somehow... after all, there are after market parts on here... and then we'll be out a couple grand, and I might even get fired. So.... OK, Nope, 'not covered by Ford', sorry pal. It's not personal, it's a business decision." Seriously, that's what you were really told.

Always put the car back to stock before taking it to the dealer for engine warranty. It should be emission test ready. (got a scanner?)
Are the turbo's leaking from the units themselves or the oil lines? Are you under 60,000 miles? I haven't heard of any leaks except the drain lines or oil pressure lines, and these are replaced, or just re-fastened under warranty. I doubt that the turbos themselves are leaking. In any event, the dealer can flag the car if he knows it was modified, and the factory will back him up. Again, leaks are normally in the lines. ALL..... READ AND BELIEVE MY FIRST SENTENCE!!!

My rear turbo was leaking where the turbine housing connects to the main housing. I'm not sure if terminology is correct as I'm new to turbo cars, but it was leaking where the clamp is on the outside. Only 75k miles on the turbo and I replaced it. I originally thought it was the oil supply line but once I dug into the car, it was clear it was the turbo and not a line (unfortunately).

Sorry to hear! But at least you know for yourself, rather than relying on someone else to tell you :thumb: That's a big WIN in my book.

I have had my dealership tell me that having the BOV vent to atmosphere voided the warranty on the turbos. Their reasoning was with the vent tubes removed and the holes plugged (on the intake air pipe to the turbo), it could not properly vent the extra pressure. Even after explaining how it actually works they still said the same thing. Bottom line, always return to 100% stock when going to the dealer.
