When we were doing my suspension on my 92 new years eve. We were having problems getting the old struts to drop from the spindle because the old struts were about 4 inches longer than the new one. So we (93redatx) and I considered dropping the trailing arms to give us more room. No one around had them, so I gave Performance Plus a call to see if they had any, and find out the price. Ended up talking to Doug and he suggested some other ways to attempt getting the strut out and said that taking those off was really not a good idea and would lead to more problems. I thought it was awesome for him to take time out of his busy day to help us out!

We ended up having to cut the struts in half to get them out by the way. Hehe fun with a grinder! :p

The part that amazed me even more is Doug called back later and said he couldn't find the trailing arms but he knew he had them. He suggested how to get them out without breaking them, etc. Very nice guy, I would take my car there anytime there was something I couldn't do myself! The only thing I ever bought from there so far was a Colgan Bra though...

Anyway Performance Plus hail thumb

Yes, Doug was a really nice guy. It was nice that he took the time out of his day, on New Year's Eve, no less, to help us out.

The grinder trick was a little "unconventional", but there was really no other way to get them out. I've got pics of the strut bottoms on the ones that were in the car vs. the new ones. When we got the spindle down as far as it would go, there was still about 2" on the old strut to go, and the whole thing just wouldn't go down any furthur because of the trailing arm. Anyway, instead of rambling about it, I'll post up the pics in the troubleshooting section one of these days.
