I just recently had my 60K service done at Performance Plus, and wanted to let you guys know of the wonderful experience I had in dealing with Doug Mellum and company.

Doug's professionalism, manner and knowledge of the SHO motor was unbelieveable! I was overwhelmed with his ability to teach me about my own car, while ripping the top of the motor apart and do a 60K service in less than half a day!

Unfortunately, none of my valves needed adjustment (Well maybe thats a good thing to say the least)...But we did notice that the timing was off a bit (Stretched Timing belt), my spark plugs were gapped incorrectly (Probably the previous owner had the spark plugs changed thru Ford), and I had an issue where my low coolant light would flicker on/off, which doug figured out the problem without hesitation and fixed it...I did splurge abit and got a PP y-pipe with a dynomax cat-back exhaust system, and K&N Air Filter...

Needless to say, the end result was astonishing...More low end power and the car screams now when I get on the gas!! It definitely feels like I just bought this thing..

We need more mechanics like Doug in this world, it would make getting maintenance on a car a way better experience...

Take care everyone,

Joel

Performance Plus is AWESOME!!!

Just got back from Madison, WI where I had a bunch of maintenance work done on my '91 SHO PLUS.

Complete 60K, including new water pump, plug wires, crank sensor, cam sensor, V/C gaskets & plug well seals. New front crank seal. (the rear had already been replaced & was not leaking)

Power steering flush.

New clutch kit installed. Zoom unit with the correct style t.o.b.!

New front & rear subframe bushings.

New Monroe Quick-Struts installed, front & rear, along with all 4 new swaybar endlinks & all 4 new TPR swaybar-to-body bushings.

All wheels balanced & 4-wheel alignment. No more steering wheel cocked to the right & SHO always pulling slightly to the left!

Headlights aimed. Sure makes my new Sylvania Silverstar Ultra's work great.

New factory EATC installed.

Doug Mellum is very professional, & his knowledge of the SHO is unbelievable! He is extremely meticulous, and makes sure anything that should be fixed when everything is apart gets done.

If you're within a days drive of Madison, WI & need some work done on your SHO, Doug is definitely the man to take it to!!

PS: On the way home I did one leg as a best fuel mileage run. Drove 264 miles from Covington, IN to Columbus, Ohio, cruise set at 60mph, & used 8.39 gallons = 31.46 mpg! (yes, I know 60 is a little slow, but there was absolutely NO traffic on I-74 & I-70 since it was 11pm to 3am) This just goes to SHOw what a well-tuned SHO can do if you're not in any hurry.
