OK, so I know this is going to sound stupid to some, but I really don't know that much about these cars. First of all, I bought the car used about 1 year ago and it has had some work done to it (performance y-pipe, bigger MAS, CAI, etc), how much more, is my question.

- The exhaust appears to be a Borla exhaust system (stainless with the resonator in the mid-pipe). Was this the stock exhaust on a 1991 Plus?

- Easiest way to tell if performance pulleys have been installed; pulley OD measurements, specific ford stampings, etc? They are not aluminum and they look stock, but the car has the same voltage drop down at idle that all of my previous Mustangs had with pulleys. I realize this could also be a bad alternator, but when I check, it seems to be charging properly.

- How do I tell if this car has been chipped? I know some chips/modules use to plug in between the connector and the computer and others were installed in the computer. Is there an easy way to check for this? Where can these ships be ordered from, how much of a performance increase, and at what cost?

- None related issue, I'm getting ready to remove the AC system from the car and it appears that I should be fine with just going with a shorter belt (no need for a relocation bracket of any type). Can I expect to free up some Hp; a few at the most?

Your help is appreciated. Thanks

You have a black 91 + huh... well bad news is its broken. Good news is, I'll take it off your hands.. lol

Ok really... at a glance.. if your water pump pulley is about a 1/4" away from one of the bolts on the tensioner, and if your crank is slightly bigger than a "big can" of soup... then your probally have some UDP's... without measuring thats about as much of a help as I can be...

Chipped? Check the glove box, look at the back of the computer... if there is something extra hanging off the back of the silver computer, then its chipped... if the sticker is still on it.. then its not.

The borla's have 2 pipes coming off the "resonator" part... all the other stock exhausts will have one, and split into two behind the rear control arms....

Pictures work wonders.. seriously tho, its broke.. you should send the car to me.. lol :) I miss my 91 latley... looks like you have a decent paintjob on her... so yea, if you wanna get rid of it.... ;)

With the other mods on your car, I bet you have a set of pullies on that thing. Maybe just a 2 piece crank and alternator. They are made of steel, painted black, which makes them look horribly close to stock pullies.

If you have the two piece underdrive crank pulley, get rid of it. They have a tendancy to grenade. SHOSource.com sells a single piece solid aluminum UDP that is really good. As far as the AC goes, it really only drags on the engine when it is engaged. I still have AC on my car, but I rarely use it because it bogs down the motor. When the AC is not used the pulley just spins freely.

if you do decide to do away with the compressor you sill need something there for support.

without it, the bracket that compressor bolts to might break on a hard shift. then, your sol.

Some people have had toruble, other have run them for 10+ years and had no isses. However they have been known to separate. But if you do decided you want to get rid of it if you actually do have it, shoot me a pm I'll take it off your hands.

Very good info, this is very true. If you want to delete the a/c system make sure you leave the compressor on the bracket. You can pull it apart and gut it so it weighs almost nothing, but it has to stay on for support or that bracket will snap. As far as HP gains, no there really isn't much from the a/c delete because as stated it doesnt create much drag at all when the a/c is off. There also is no a huge weigh savings. I gutted mine and pulled all lines and everything off I could, less the stuff under the dash and I saved 12.5 lbs, it was not worth the effort I had to put in to take it all off.

Ok so here's the scoop.

- The resonator has both tailpipes coming out of it, so according to what was stated above I have the Borla Exhaust.:woo-hoo: Now, How do I get rid of some of the raspyness? Install a set of 05 - 09 Mustang GT Mufflers, individual resonators?

- The computer appears to be unmolested and stock.

- Thanks for the info on the A/C stuff. As much as I hate seeing it there, if it's going to be a problem, it can stay!

- I'm attaching some pictures of my pulleys, the water pump & Alt pulleys appear to be bigger than normal. The water pump is about 1/4" away from the upper tensioner pulley bracket bolt. The crank pulley looks stock (2 piece) and the power steering is hard to say.
