Hello everyone....I am new here and need some advice. Is it worth getting the Performance Package or not on the SHO? Is there a noticeable difference in performance? Let me know what you guys think.....Thanks

By the time this post showed up I had already bought a red SHO with the performance pack,Navigation and Multi-contoured seats. I live near Cleveland and the closest SHO's with the performance pack were in Michigan and PA. I bought the one fron Michigan beacause it was a job#2 bulid....I love this car!

My dealer only had one SHO and it had the package so I haven't tried one without. It will be interesting to hear opinions from those that have driven both.

I had the opportunity to get the same SHO with the performance package, but decided against it. The gearing didn't mean much to me, it's not that big of a difference and it's already fast. The thing I didn't want was the F1 tires. I read the customer reviews on the Tire Rack and they trashed them on wet pavement. I know you got to take them with a grain of salt, but there were so many of them, I thought something was up. One guy called them dangerous. Like I said, some people can hyperbolize.

While I'm not a fan of Goodyear's passenger car tire I can say that over the past few days I have driven at speed in some rain storms that would float a boat with the F1's and never noticed any "dangerous" moves by the SHO.

What??

I went and looked at the F1 Supercar reviews and surveys. Just fine in the wet, as are most summer-only tires.

IMNSHO, I wouldn't even consider a new SHO without the Performance Package. And I would get dedicated winter tires and rims. Just as I do now with the LGT.

You either want performasnce in all seasons, or you don't. And, no, it's NOT quick enough without the Performance Package.

Before i ordered my SHO i test drove a Alt. Green without the pref. pkg and while the car was a good performer i wanted something a with little more performance and handling. I ordered the pref. pkg. and i,m pleased with the way the car pref.and handles. I picked up the car in Jan. and do not like the F1 in the snow they suck.Good tire in the warm weather and rain but all seasons will be on the car before winter.

I had F1s on my Z06. Sucked in the dry, dangerous in the wet. ****** tires overall.

So what do you say is the best replacement.

On my vette I put Pirellis. On the SHO it came with the Michelens which are pretty good.

For RWD cars I like Toyo and Vredstiens for the summer which have good wet performance.

I've always been a Michelin man, since 82 that's the only tire we've run, I considered driving the SHO straight to the tire store to swap out the Goodyears. It wasn't even a thought for the SUV's, they had Firestone blow outs from the factory.

Michelen tires are great for all season tires, but for performance tires I hate them more than the F1s. The Pilot Sport 2's are terrible yet they get such good reviews. I tend to find that people that love the PS2s have never drove a car with a Toyo or Vredstien or for that matter any other tire. The PS2's on my CTSV are miserable in anything but 70+ dry weather.

Well, the F1s are specifically summer tires not to be used below 40F.

Get a 2nd set of wheels for winter tires. A/S tires are a poor compromise.

I have a 400B with the Perf Pack and I drove in some Torrential Texas Thunderstorms yesterday, and the Eagle F1s handled just fine. I'm sure the AWD helps.

I'm not much of a Goodyear Fan myself, but I will say the F1 Supercars do very nicely in aggressive driving situations.

I opted not to get the package. Well, after all, I am in my mid 60's. The gearing wasn't a big deal, the only other thing would have been the brake upgrade. I drove a Limited, and drove a SHO without the package, and 19" wheels. I thought, and still do, that the brakes were fine for the way I drive. I did get the 20" wheel package as they fill out the wheel wells better. I now have almost 7K on the car. I haven't seen any reason to have spent the extra cash for the performance package. As for winter specific tires, that will probably happen this coming winter season. I had specific tires on my old Maurader and I went places I never thought a RWD could go!
