Just my luck; I have the car up for sale and all ready to go, and I get a little too close to the garbage cans pulling into the garage over the weekend and pop the passenger side mirror glass off!

The housing is still intact and the motor works fine, but the front of it has pulled away just slightly from the door frame. I'm hoping I can pop off the interior door panel and tighten it down, but I'm not sure how these mirrors attach since that's one of the few parts of this car I've never touched. That door panel rattles a little anyway, so I'll replace the retainer clips while I have it off.

Hopefully I can get away with just replacing the mirror glass. Anyone have any experience replacing just the glass? Any suggestions on where to buy a good quality replacement from? Both my mirrors are clear and don't have the blue tint.

If I do have to replace the whole housing, anyone have a used passenger side housing and glass in good shape for me to buy? I could buy new, but I know it would look quite a bit newer than the driver side and probably wouldn't be OEM quality.

Thanks guys!

the glass company, like Satelite etc, will be able to replace just the mirror glass for you.

the mirror is held on by 3 studs that you access from the inside of the door. that little cover on the inside of the door is covering them up. you will need to remove the door interior panel to r/r the mirror, because the wiring pigtail connector is down inside the door.

You can look on RockAuto where you can buy just the glass for a few bucks; or for a whopping $18.00, you can buy the whole thing - housing, glass, motor, you name it.

There are screws on the bottom of the mirror housing, undo those, and the motor assembly and all should come out as one. There was some weird stuff behind there that was hard to reach (wiring?), but I don't recall quite what, but I disassembled the whole thing to repaint the housing on mine, so it can be done.

Thanks for the input everyone!

I pulled everything apart tonight and the mirror housing survived just fine. It took a little bit of tweaking to get it to sit flush with the door frame again, but it looks great now. I was even able to clean the scuff mark off the housing, so once I replace the glass, no one will ever know.

I didn't think about calling glass shops for the replacement, so I will try that first thing tomorrow morning. If they either can't get one or the cost is too prohibitive, an order from RockAuto will be in store. My local Napa can get one, but has to order it in, and once they include shipping, it's double the cost of RockAuto!

It's amazing how much quieter my passenger door panel is now with all new clips holding it on. No more annoying rattling every time the door gets closed! I should have done that YEARS ago.
