Just ordered some fun go fast parts for the SHO. Got the SCT Tuner from Livernois and Airraid intake from Anything auto.

Thanks very much to the guys that posted the order info and coupon codes, I saved $40 on the Intake and got free shipping :thankyou: . Hoping all those will be here by the end of the week so I'm quite excited. I may order the springs but I am very hesitant to change the stock ride quality. Also a big shout out to Livernois those guys have great customer service and were very very helpful on the phone!

Next upgrade will be some exhaust changes :dribble:

heads up-sct tuner not compatible

despite sct web site info, tsx unit is NOT compatible w/SHO. unit will not data monitor, nor comes loaded w/pretunes.
returned my tsx unit today.
maybe updates in future but currently what you get is a unit which can be used for custom tunes(additional costs) and otherwise is a $850.00 paperweight.

It's not the TSX unit, it's the older SCT XCAL3 I believe. Since this is the same tuner they used to tune there own car and Darrel's I'm pretty sure it works. It was also only $460 shipped with tunes... Heck of a deal personally since the SCT units run around $200 just for the box.

Rick at Livernois said they charge about $250. for their tunes if you already have a SCT tuner.

I paid about the same price as you for my SCT with Torrie's tune. He has updated and sent additional ones, including Tranny tune at no additional charge. Would be interesting to compare the performance differences between the two.

I don't believe the actual tunes that you download into one's SCT tuner are Vehicle specific, but if anyone has different info.... please respond.

In regards to our Ecoboost cars I'm not sure if you bought it from SCT with their tune it would be any different. This of course is Livernois' custom tune. One nice thing about the SCT tuners is you can load what ever tunes you want into them. I used one on my Cobra back in the day, we used my SCT tuner as just a mechanism to flash the car and hold the tune, I never used the SCT tunes, always went with custom. Another nice feature (depending on model of tuner) was you could make fine tweaks to the tune with the tuner's limite ability, things like fuel, timing etc, you could change a little bit to dial in whatever custom program was loaded. I had hours into my custom tunes for the Cobra and probably 100 dyno runs on it to dial it in over the time I had it. But that's why it made 535RWHP with stock blower and basic bolt-ons.

The part we can check out is if the custom tune for the SHO would be the same for an MKS or Flex, that would be cool if they were all setup the same from the factory or if there are slight differences. I believe the MKS for example is rated at 355HP instead of 365HP, not sure what makes the diff, tune, exhuast or something else...

I think Ford detunes the other models so they wont canibalize the sales of the SHO. Ford could have easily made the V6 Mustang have 365 or more HP but then it would hurt the sales of the GT. As for tunes, I wasn't aware you could buy SCT controlers with SCT tunes for the EcoBoost. I thought all EcoBoost tunes were custom. On my 2005 Mustang GT when I first go it, I had SCT email me some tunes for the controler I purchased from a local speed shop. They sent me a custom dyno tune from a customers car and didn't tell me what it was or about. I kept it for almost 6 months before trying it. At that time, tuners were not doing too much with the Transmission part of the tune. One evening I put the tune in and left it sit overnight. I got in to go to work the next day and stepped foot in it. When it shifted into 2nd, it broke both rear tires loose and barked like crazy. I almost sh*t my pants. I was like what the **** just happened? I knew right away I had a bas ass tune from SCT. I want to buy a tuner for the Flex but am cautious about who to buy from. I want the most HP with the safest tune. Is there such a thing?

My Brick's custom tune from Torrie McPhail is identical to SHO tune. He tells me the Horsepower difference between SHO and other EB vehicles is the fuel used. SHO numbers are on 93 premium, where the others are based on 87 octane, which lowers torque and HP about 10. So... if you run regular in SHO it drops to Flex numbers and vice versa.

I initially had some issues with SCT tuner back in FEB, as I am running Windows 7 ultimate on laptop, but after updating it's software via online, it works nicely.

Know he had some issues early on with his tuned 2010 SHO, but believe he is now quite conservative on tuning parameters. His big spiel is that heat is this engine's enemy so if you are going to run over 15 psi boost, you need more engine cooling. Torrie has a AWD dyno in St. Augustine, so may visit his shop when we get back to FL.

Has anyone though about calling Snow Performance and inquiring about methanol injection? That would solve alot of our heat problems.....

I would be interested in knowing this as well.....

I'll ask Livernois when my tuner arrives. I know ony other SCT units you can load the tune into only one car at a time. Didn't matter what car just only 1. That way you can sell it to someone else to use. It uploads your stock tune and saves it when you load the custom tune. When it's in use like that you can't use it on another car. If you restore the stock programming then you can use it somewhere else.

The tunes are PCM specific. Tried telling you Timm that the TSX didn't work, I already lived that experience. Also, SCT doesnt have a tune for the Taurus SHO as of now. Any X3 that you purchase needs to have a custom tune put on it.

I dont currently have an SCT tuner. My car was tuned before Livernois was using SCT, however when I have them tune my Flex (sometime before winter I'm hoping) I'll probably get an X3.

Well I didn't call Snow, but I am in the process of getting an Alky kit. I'm using another company, send my a PM if interested. Snow just spends money on advertising and doesnt have the quality of some of the other companies. JMO.

You're correct in saying that you can use the X3 on different vehicles but only one at a time.

TA- I can speak to Livernois tune, it's safe and it makes great power!

Hey Darrel the power your car made was that without exhaust? Looked like the intake was on but the rollers are so noisy it's hard to tell. I'm sooo stoked to get this in and running, the Airraid shipped today!

Cool. Umm....there should be a video before and after the exhaust. Think I picked up about 9hp peak and 10 or so under the curve with the exhaust. Can't remember exactly. You'll like the car a WHOLE lot more, that's for sure!
I've had a couple different revisions. Honestly though, the intake or exhaust didn't really make all that much power. I love the exhaust though, don't get me wrong!!

livernois sct tuner programs

livernois site notes 3 different stages of tune for the x3 unit.
each described stage is at $ 499.00.
sorry for newbie ?, but does this mean it's $1500.00 for the 3 stage option ?
if so, is stage 2 " best " for daily use ?
thanks

No, it's 499.00 you can choose which stage. You don't really need 3 of them. I drive my car everyday with the "stage 3" tune

What is the boost PSI on the stage 3 tune?

Bob when I talked to Livernois yesterday they told me the boost was only up'ed by about 3-4PSI for all the tunes, the difference is TQ Mgmt and what they do with the Trans. He said Stage 3 is fine if your not beating the day lights out of the car everyday, if you get on it once in awhile it will be ok, if you ride it hard though it could cause some trans issues down the road. Not sure how much that auto is built to take. I'm still considering which "stage" to go with as I don't want to hurt the tranny at all, if power is the same but it's curtailed a bit by reducing some tq and saving the tranny I may go with just stage 2 and sacrafice a .1 to 2 for longevity sake.

I believe he said the process was I'll recieve the tuner, then send them some code and they will email me the proper tune, which I then upload to the tuner and then to the car. I can fill everyone in as soon as I get it.
