Hello fellow SHowners! I drove my /95 MTX home from the shop the other day after a complete brake overhaul. This was the first time I drove it. I purchased it from a friend. Knowing it needed work I did not hesitate to buy the car. It is in pretty good shape needing only a little TLC. With only 82k on it and quiet a few performance parts added I thought the price of 6k fair.
I knew this ride came from Ohio and they seem to use some very strong chemicals on their roads because the underside is very rusty. Nothing I am afraid of tackling. But there is a problem. I bought some new, better than stock struts, and took the car to have them put on today. Sad news perhaps. This car needs all four spindals and pinch bolts. The ones there are way too siezed to remove or salvage and two of the bolts are missing their heads. Not to mention the disc covers are partially rusted off. So if anyone has a used set hanging around or a parts car with these needed items please contact me at [email protected] I live in Roanoke VA and am on the hunt for parts so I can make this SHO like new again. I love this car already and it is, IMO a car worth every dime of restoration required on this man's limited budget..
I would appreciate any help from my fellow SHO people.. Thanks Glenn..

You shouldn't have a problem finding new spindles for the car....post in the WTB section for that.

I hesitate to be the first one to tell you this...but you paid a little more than double of what that car is worth...especially with all of the rust.

But, it is nice to hear that you are looking forward to putting it back into shape.

do you really need new spindles? A litte rust on the covers isn't a SHO-stopper (sorry for the pun), and a weekend with a drill and some EZ-outs should get the pinch bolt situation resolved. Even if you f**k up the threads, you can just any old bolt about an inch longer and put a locknut on the end (hence the name, 'pinch').

And just for the record, i'll defend your price decision: it's getting rare to find a SHO with under 100k, and IMHO worth every extra penny

maybe a bit overpriced by some standards but was exactly what I was looking for. I am not ready to throw in the towel and drill through the bolts yet. I would like to as I retsore this ride to put things back as they were or better. The friend I purchased her from shares that philosophy and when I am done I want to know beyond a doubt when I mash on the floor nothing breaks loose but the tires up front. Are the Regular Taurus spindals the same as the SHO? Oh and we have this place here that we sho off our rides on Saturday night. I do not want some guy looking at my underside and saying nice "rig" on the suspension. Unless of course I have no other choice and can make it look better than original. This is by far the nicest car I have personally owned and hope to have it a very long time. Thanks Glenn

The thing will drilling the bolt is that all you are doing is freeing up the rusted part. You drill out the old bolt, then put a new bolt in. Looks original, just like it should - except you got the old rusty bolt out and replaced it with a new one.

The '94-'95 SLO's share the same spindles as SHO's. Just make sure you get a pair that has ABS - as some SLO's didn't have it and all SHO's do - except '89s.
