Ok, I bypassed the low pressure switch on top of the dryer can, and the A/C fired up... Ran cool for quite awhile(I put a gauge set on it it check the refrigeration levels which were low but it was cooling...). Then I shut off the air conditioner. Tried to start the system again and nothing... I do have 12 volt to the low pressure switch, but it wont restart the compressor... Is it possible that after the air conditioner gets warm and the shims in the compressor arent letting the clutch kick in? When I bypass the pressure switch and jump it out I can get the fan to come on, but not the compressor. Any help would be appriciated!

Also, when I change the pressure switch do I need to recover the system? Will the refrigerant leak out or am I just replacing the switch? I see SHO source has the for $15.99...

You can swap the low pressure switch with out the system opening there is a valve under it. I have done it before. Also the you might be right on with the clutch shim.

Disconnect the electrical plug to the compressor. I know easier said than done. Then see if there is 12V going to the compressor. Also check the ohms of the coil that are on the other end of the connector. I have a new OEM clutch coil if you are looking for one.
