I'm late for work, otherwise I'd do a search...

I like the looks of the painted calipers and am probably going to do ti this weekend. Is there actual red "Caliper" paint or is there somethign that works better? Anyone thats done this got any tips?

Also, I have a 96 and I have the amber signals on the rear tail lamps and I've seen where people have painted that red as well...and I'm lookin to get a how-to for that as well...

I always like to have some sort of idea and any pointers I can before starting anything.

Thanks!

The red taillight fixture you see is on 98-99 SHOs. The 96 and 97s had the orange fixtures. Some people have blacked out the orange portion or have painted it to match their body paint, but painting the orange fixture red would eliminate the light output significantly. If you want the red fixture, you'd have to swap in some 98-99 fixtures.

I bought some tailights for the jeep and someone had painted the amber section red. Not sure what kind of paint it is - they just said a transparent red paint. But, it doesn't make the light any dimmer that i noticed...........

I used NiteShades on my ENTIRE taillight assemblies. It is like black spraypaint, but at night the lights are still as visible when illumined. This looks UNREAL on a black SHO
I know you were wanting red, but the black is :naughty:

I prefer caliper paint which is brushed on. It bonds better, looks better, shines better, and lasts longer than spray paint.

A set of taillights from any 98 or 99 Taurus sedan will be all red, and can usually be found for under $50/pair at most recyclers (junkyards) or on eBay.

Where does one find this "NiteShades"???
I painted my calipers red, used "Plasti-Kote" spray, withstands temps of 900 degrees. Walmart sells a box kit with the brush on paint, when my calipers need to be freshened up I am going to try the kit. :thumb:

I did a search a while back here on the forum. Someone gave an internet site that sells it, which is where I bought it from. Turns out that a local performace parts store in my area carries it for about the same price...
I need to post a pic. It looks fantastic. Do it, you won't regret it!
