Just thought I would leave you guys with an idea. I haven't seen it on the form anywhere else really. I've seen some taillights tinted and smoked but not without keeping the white portion clear. With a little bit of time but I think it came out pretty cool. I also painted the chrome trim that goes across the headlights. I've been trying to find a Ford logo that I can replace in the middle with one that's black ImageImage Image

EBay should have some Ford emblems in black (not stickons). Maybe even FordParts.com. May have to xreference F150, measure the emblem size & search by that also.

I've been looking for the SEL taillights for a couple weeks now, via junk yards. Located the outside tails for $50 each, but no one is willing to sell the lights mounted to trunk lid, only entire trunk lid. Ugh

I guess the decklids have no standalone value? How much are they going for?

Didn't even ask, may have to if I can't locate them anywhere else. Think Tasca had deck lid without lights for 650...lol

I bought the Lamin-x tail tint and plan to cut out the tint that covers the clear areas like this. Can you see any light though through a painted lens? How did you paint the chrome - did you sandpaper it or prep it, etc..?? Thanks.

you can only see the red when you brake and it is a very dark shade of red. i sanded the trim down with an 800 grit. it was too much of a pain in the ass to get emblem and camera out so i had to prep around it. just be careful with clips in the trunk lid when you go to pull trim off. if you don't sand it enough the paint will chip off very easily. i personally prefer the paint over the film, paint will last longer generally and i think they look more natural.

job well done for sure & none that i've seen like yours that's for sure. mine is white as well. at first i missed the chrome spear, but the more i look at it the more i like it & if my trim ends up peeling anymore i have to do something & painting is only way i'd go. on mine would probably leave the spear chrome as letters on back are now black, but on yours it works. well done!!!

Nice man thanks for the info. You wouldn't happen to have any pictures of what the back end of your car looks like.

That's a great site! Shoot, I already bought my black SHO emblem from eBay - can't wait to see your pics to compare our black SHO emblems!

great fine. i was looking for something to put on the dash on the right hand brushed chrome side as moved the small sho to the console & this will work perfectly so got a set coming. thanks. the metal place is a good site but not cheap & had to have them 1/4" thick to get the black anodized that i wanted, so they are not small by any stretch. hope to have my car back fri, first big show of the season here is sat. here's pic of eng bay.42515engbay zps6sufi31s
