As most of you that frequent the forums know, my paint is pretty shot on the 90. Well when one of the previous owners had it sent to some fly by night place like Maaco, they badly oversprayed paint onto my side mirrors. Because I have a Gen I (non-plus), this made the black trim on the mirrors look really bad; so I decided to repaint the trim. (Would have been easier if I had 91+ solid black mirrors but I don't).

I went to the parts house and bought the following: Duplicolor primer, Duplicolor flat black spray paint, 320 grit 3M sandpaper, and painters masking tape. I masked off the painted areas of the mirrors with the tape and newspaper. For one mirror, I sanded, primed 1 coat; then painted 2 coats of the flat black (passenger mirror).

For the driver side, I didn't sand (mainly because I was in more of a hurry and forgot, but it still turned out ok). I primed 1 coat, and painted 2-3 coats (I had a few paint runs on that one I had to fix).

Here are some pictures of how they turned out. No they're not perfect but they're better than they were and the Duplicolor flat black rattle can paint matches our black trim quite nicely and would work great on Gen 2 B/C pillar trim.

Oh and yes I had to pull the door panels off and yes it was a pain in the ass; but nonetheless, it needed to be done before I get the whole car painted.
