I had got some blue powdercoated ones from midnight auto on ebay they are completely rebuilt like new. The powdercoat is alot more durable than paint. I know a kid with the red powdered ones on his silver sho and they dont look bad.

Painted calipers are VERY common and red is the most popular color for them. Most upgrades to Cobra have red calipers as certain cobras come PC'd red anyway.

as a side note... if powder coat is out of your price range. i highly recommend the brush on caliper paint advance auto sells. very similar to powder coat if applyed correctly. takes about 3 coats.

why do you recomend the brush on as aposed to the spray on?
It is much thicker and more durable. and it looks WAY better. allot more like powdercoat. but like i said it takes 3-4 coats. the first coat looks bad, but it's supposed to. it comes in a kit with the pain, a brush, a stire rod, and caliper cleaner (awsome stuff). i just did the 89's in red a couple days ago. i'll try to get some pics soon.

Dumb Question? Did you take them off the car?

I never liked the brush on. It lays on too thick too fast and dries slopily IMO. I bought dual piston calipers (Cobras but they dont say Cobra and were not painted), taped them off (off the car) sprayed one coat of primer and over the next week of so just kept blasting them with thin coats of red. Came out perfect with globs of paint anywhere

No,

i don't don't get the comment about globs... ??? i had NO problem getting the paint to go down even. it was just thin enough but thick enough not to run. very easy to apply as long as you don't try to do it all in one coat.

I've painted my calipers with several kinds of paint. Never saw one yet that didn't get embedded with brake dust and refuse to get clean again. PC is the best. I am going to try some POR-15 with a Silver POR topcoat next. They say it is not porous and will not allow particles to get embedded in the paint.

or you can just spend the little bit of extra money and get a set of powder coated one. They clean up nice and no dirt gets stuck in them.!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, but for some reason they faded pretty bad over the last couple of years, of course I am fairly confident that may have been from heat...

I painted mine a low gloss black, using ceramic engine paint. They look great and clean up real nice. I have a '99 black with the polished aluminum rims. I had them red at one time but did not care for the "dirtyness" of them.

Body matched. Sanded, primered, then painted with truck/suv paint from autozone.

I would not recommend painting at all if you plan to be ******* the brakes often(autoX)...
