Hello priatelia,

I'm dealing with an oversize piston/rings issue. My cylinder walls show a bit of out of spec values so I decided to go with the oversize pistons and rings. I called my shop to find out how much it would be and they say they can't get any parts. Excuse me?

I started browsing and I found 0.25mm or 0.010 pistons but no rings. I ordered them though because I thought I would find the rings somewhere. And I didn't want to go 0.50mm so 2 sizes bigger. I tried and asked everywhere. I still can't find them. I could've ordered them and wait few weeks but I didn't want to wait. Some parts stored they didn't even bother to back order them. They're available in bigger sizes but not in 0.25mm.

The question is - how do they differ between 2 sizes? I wonder if I order one size bigger (0.50mm) would be possible to just simply file them down to proper size to fit my walls or there's another hidden hack I don't know about? The oil ring might be a bit of a challenge to adjust but I'd have to use the file either way - non of those rings would fit perfectly in to the rebored cylinder wall anyway, correct?

Can I order those 0.50mm rings and make them work for my application?

Any help greatly appreciated.
