Overpressurization? Sensor?
Hi guys, I have a new problem with my SHO- I had posted a thread a few weeks ago about my car overheating after installing a Dynomax catback, and a Midwest SHO y-pipe with cats. Well, it's still going on, but with a twist.
The first original issue was when I was driving it back from the exhaust swap- it was bleeding coolant out the overflow bottle. Seemed to be running okay, and not hot, but the fan was on, and I didn't push it. I'd driven it since then, and no issues. The car is driven VERY infrequently- on weekends if nice, and I've put maybe 100 miles on it in the last 4 weeks.
Next, last week, it seemed that the fan was running very frequently, and for too long- almost constantly. But not overheating. Keeping at the low end of the gauge, where it normally runs. Since then, including today, it runs almost all the time, no matter how hot the engine is. I got in to pull it out of the garage, bone cold, and started the car, fan came on. It does cycle, but it comes right back on like 30 seconds later, and does it even if the car is cool.
Sunday, I started it up, drove to the ice rink (about 3 miles away, but enough to warm up) parked it, and when I got back out to the car 1 hour later, coolant had been leaking out from between the top tradiator hose and the neck on the radiator. The radiator was replaced about 5,000 miles ago as well as all the hoses by the previous owner- there is no crack and everything is tightened up, and was tight at the time- I checked. I drove it home, parked it, and no leaks.
Is the system somehow overpressurizing? Bad thermostat? Thoughts? I'm stumped!
