Hey guys,
This is my first post and I've never been on the site before last night, sure glad I found it.
Overdrive stopped working! I've got a 93 SHO with 102K. Never had any real problems to speak of, out of the ordinary anyways. However, I was driving it the other night and suddenly noticed that it wasn't shifting into fourth gear. I cycled the OD button on and off and nothing but the light would work. I thought it was kind of odd to just loose a gear with no prior indications at all, so I'm hopeful that maybe there is some sort of sensor or actuator that may have just gone bad or maybe a connection somewhere.
Any help would be very appreciated.
Thanks, Gordon

Sounds like your tranny is on the let go...sorry. After rebuilding my 93 3 times, your best bet is to get the CORRECT rebuild specs from someone on here. And you won't have to go throught the heartache of 3 improper rebuilds. You are likely looking at the neighboorhood of $1500 for a quality rebuild. Sometimes the VSS causes uneven shifting or the car to fail to "find" a gear but the total loss of overdrive is likely the first sign of the need for a rebuild.

Thanks for the replies and the link on the servo. I think I may be screwed. I pulled the servo out (pain in the #&*) and there were two C clips on the assembly that were fine. One was on the back of the plunger and the other on the plunger spring. I thought I could maybe gain access to the inside of the trans by taking down the pan but was definately wrong. Does anyone know of any schematics on these trannies that may be online? I would like to study an exploded view before tearing into the trans again so that I know what I'm looking for. Thanks again, Gordon

Before you tear into the trans do a few simple diagnostics. The "lock-up" is not a gear, but rather is the torque converter lock-up. The servo may be bad, or may have a poor connection. There is also a possibility of a VSS connection being poor or corroded, or the VSS is goig bad. Check these thing out before you go into the trans. rangerj
