That's what I thought. I ask because I know some people would have liked to see manuals in the GEN3. Has anyone ever tried to put the five speed from a V-6 Contour or Contour SVT in a GEN 3? Theoretically it could bolt up to the block with little to no mods. Do you think this is possible?

Might work if you got a Quaife diff and some major chip work. I'm sure for near $10K you could do it. :)

emerald:
I heard somewhere that the G#N3 SHO motor is based on the Ford 2.5 liter V-6 Duratec block. Is this correct?
From what I've read, the Duratec is based on the SHO motor. Basically all Duratec means is 60 degree V, 4 valve.

Also, Duratec isn't a block, its just a design name.
Example:
Contour 2.5L Duratec : Taurus SES 3.0L Duratec
Different block, but same 60 degree and 4 valve.

I have a brand new 3.0 Duratec engine that I was going to put in The Other Woman before I found the SHO religion. It is brand new as in it's still in the assembly line cradle. It is complete with all accessories and all the plugs are still in all of the openings.

If anybody is interested, shoot me an email. I'll donate the ten bucks now Bizzy, but I wont list it for another few days.

All the Duratecs are a two piece block that is cast using a process developed by Cosworth.

The V8 is developed from the 2.5L motor.

IIRC the original design of the 4 cyl Duratec for was done by Porsche for Ford.

The 2.5 and 3.4 have alot of the same internals. But the are NOT based off of one another.

I guess when I see pushrods in my 3.4 or a ballance shaft in the 2.5 I might change my mind.

They share the same pistons, valves and crank trigger wheel. thats about it. As you disassemble both you see many differences.

Well I didn't mean that they just added two cylinders to the 2.5L block. But there is enough similarity there that I doubt if the 3.4L was a new design from the ground up.
