Ok here is the deal. I have a feeling, kinda like a clunk except I can feel it and not hear it. After the car shifts from 1-2 it immediately feals like it is shifting again. I know this isn't the trans and the motor mounts are all good. When it's moving I can give it gas and let off the gas and give it gas and I can feel something moving before the engine actually moves. I need help here guys. We checked the motor mounts and they appeared to be fine. We just went at them with a big ass pry bar. Is there another way to check them? Ok that's it. I hope that you guys can help bring my SLO back into commission. Thanks! :)

Hey Mike,

I've got the same thing going on. I'm figuring the ATX is gonna need some wrenchin', but I won't know for sure until I fix the dang subframe bushings and motor mounts (I've got some ugly clunkin' going on).

More info to come.

Sounds more like the sub-frame bushings or a part of the suspesion (ball joints?). Usually you can hear the clunk with motor mounts. Wish I could be more help, kind of hard to diagnose without actually seeing or feeling it.

Raise the hood, start the engine, and watch for excessive engine movement. Turn the wheel to see subframe motion, and apply forward/reverse torque to check the motor mounts.

I already know that the motor mounts are fine. They are nice and tight, only about an inch of engine movement.

I really think this is a subframe thing. It's not the tranny, and Nebuchadnezzar, check my response to your post. I don't think that the problems you are having is your tranny. Please check the VSS. I really think that is your problem. I beg you! :)
