I took my car into the shop on Thursday for electrical problems. My number 15A fuse keeps blowing so I have no EATC and no turn signals. My door locks work when they feel like working and my interior lights work when they feel like working.

The mechanic said he took everything apart related to the wiring for those parts and there was no problem. He worked on my car until today when he called and said he just can't find the problem.

This is a major problem because I have no defroster also and when it rains or gets cold, my car fogs up and I have to lower the windows. My interior is becoming soaked.

The mechanic was a nice guy and didn't charge me anything although he cut the anetanna for my satalite radio and now I have no signal. That will cost me about $50 for re-install. All he had to do to disconnect this was to simply unplug it from the cig lighter.

I'm at a lost guys. I need your wisdom

Looks like you found a mechanic to avoid when dealing with electrical issues.

If there's someone in your area that specialized in automotive or vehicle electrical systems, you might give them a shot.

What he says. Electrical in cars is a specialty. Just like automatic transmissions, body and paint work. Find a place that does auto electric. Cutting a wire and leaving it is **** poor work. :frown:

I know I'll catch h**ll from people for this answer, but my 89 had about the same problems and blowing the fuse, it turned out to be the key switch, I chased it all over the car and finally figured out that I could wiggle the key and turn signals and eatc would start working.

Key switch? In the door or the ignition? I know that when I open my driver door, my interior lights and power locks don't work. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. Yet, when I open both the driver door and the passenger door at the same time, my power locks work and my interior lights come on. Sometimes I can be driving down the street, and my power locks go crazy like someone is press the door lock switch. My horn will blow too. It's so crazy because people think I'm blowing my horn at them. God this is killing me.

The steering column. (ignition), You more than likely have a short or a bad groundin the wiring going from the ignition switch to the area under the dash to the fuse box. Pull the steering wheel and check the wiring under it than using an ohm meter check the wiring in the column. I hope this helps, A shorted wire will cause the problems you just discribed above.
