I have a noise in the front of my car and when i turn the steering wheel. it mkaes like a chucking noise or grinding noise. So my bro works at ford and he told me to have them look at it. he took it in and they said this.

Needs New rack and pin -$525.00 (which i new that i new my steering was messied up before i went in there but the noise is new)
sway Bar Links-165.00
and Front end alimant-43.00

i was wanting to know is that a good price or not?? and i was wondering sicne they ould be tinkering with the sway bar should i go ahead and get the 24mm and 26mm i think that is right. I have been away from the forum for along time. I have been really busy lately!!

So any help here will help guys!!

The noise you described gets to be more of a problem as the weather cools off. The SHO definitely has a problem with the upper front spring pad which is thick rubber, rubbing against the inside of the strut tower. This can be due to moving the top of the struts outboard to get the camber in spec, especially with Eibach springs.

A simple fix is to apply some silicone grease (Syl-Glide) to the inside of the strut tower with a rubber gloved hand. The interference point is usually in the forward, outboard area of the tower. If you take the wheel off and look up inside, you may even see where the paint has been worn off. You can reach this area with the wheels on by turning them full lock in each direction. I have to reapply the silicone about every 4-6 months and it only takes about 2 minutes.

There's just one problem.... They don't make new Rack and Pinions for the SHO anymore. Better have them re-estimate the repairs. Sway bar links for the front are 25 each I believe from sho-nut, and the rears can be had in polyurethane from any autozone for 10 dollars for a pair.
