Oil temp gauge for a trans?

Well i want to get Ford racing gauges but they dont have a trans temp gauge. I was thinking of just using an oil gauge instead. Does it require different hardware/sender for a trans or will the parts with the oil gauge do the same thing?

I'm assuming the only difference between a trans and oil gauge is one says "Trans" on it while the other says "Oil".

anybody know?
