I recently noticed a change in my oil level. Well I changed my oil, and I drove 365 miles where I go to school and I noticed that I was about a quart low right when i got to school. What could this be? I examined my car for oil leaks, i have a small power steering leak that smokes when it hits my cat, but nothing this serious. I recently changed my oil pan gasket so i know thats not the problem. Ive looked under the car and havent food any oil leaks? The oil stays amber color for about 1500 miles and the car has 120K in it. Any suggestions??

How much oil did you put in when you changed it? Its normal for the dipstick reading to fluctuate between a cold and warm motor.

Join the club. My engine goes through a quart of oil every fill up. I don't have any smoke coming out of the exhaust either. I replaced my rear main seal and it still didn't help. My bet now is the front main seal, but I will be rebuilding the motor anyway this summer. So, you might want to have your front and rear main seals checked. Oil will leak out of there when the motor's running and just right after your turn the motor off.
