Hello everybody! First post. I just got done installing an oil pressure gauge on the a-pillar. It looks good but I really don't know what kind of oil pressure i'm suppose to be getting. When it gets warmed up i'm getting around 8-10 psi on an idle and at highway speed its around 25-30. does this sound right ? I have a 91 MTX, 127000 m. Thanks.

That is pretty close to what the SHO should be running. Idle should be closer to 12psi. Your rod bearings may benefit from being replaced.

You should compare oil pressure to RPM, not highway speeds. One can do highway speeds in 3rd gear, even 2nd if it the speed limit is 55.

I was considering changing out the rod bearings but couldn't make up my mind. I think I'll go ahead and change them out. thanks

What are your pressure readings on first start up? Like 4 seconds after it starts up? My gauge goes to 60 then gradually words down to 15 psi (new bearings rock).

I can rationalize that the oil is good and thick at initial start up and has to get pushed thru ever nook and cranny when its like that which would give high readings.
