oil pan help

Hey everyone, I just decided to see if I can get my SHO running again and I had a question. My SHO had a little run in with a ramp(twice) and now the oil pan is broke. I hope that is all. I havent even looked much of it over as this happened in October. Anyways I was just wondering if any oil pan off any taurus would work and if it is a hard job to do. Thanks alot, Andy

If you enjoy working on a SHO, it's not really that difficult.

Put the car up high on jackstands or a lift if you are lucky enough to have access to one.

-Remove starter
-Remove y-pipe
-drain oil
-Remove all oil pan nuts and bolts including the two that go into the tranny
-Remove the oil pan bolt that you missed It's tucked way up in the corner on the left side of the engine. I miss this bolt every time I have removed my pan
-The pan should drop using a bit of prying with a longish prybar.

No real troublesome steps unless your y-pipe is rusted on.

This is a great time to replace your rod bearings and install a high flow y-pipe.

Make sure you make a good seal when you reinstall the pan or you WILL have a leak. I'm speaking from experience

Only a SHO oil pan will fit a SHO engine. They are also tranny specific, different pans for MTX and ATX trannies. You can also count on the exhaust manifold studs breaking off.
