Oil Filter

Hello,

It's been so long since I've had to change the oil in this car I can't remember what filter it uses. I think it's FL400 but I think there might be an upgrade? Is there an oil filter upgrade?

Also, 6.5 or 7 quarts? I also assume 5W-30W.

As far as oil filter goes, FL400S is the current version of the Motorcraft filter for your V8. I would suggest moving up to Purolator Boss PBL20195 if you put a lot of miles in the OCI or simply significantly improved filtration.

Thank you. I'll get the one you suggested. I was thinking a FL820S was an upgrade but I don't recall.

820 is a short version of the standard FL1A. Larger barrel diameter.

One CAN get an oversized for our motor FL1A on there, it is just tight on the sides.
