Ok,

I'm burning roughly a quart of oil every 500 miles on my MTX. No visible leaks anywhere and no smoke that I can detect on start up or acceleration.

I'm hoping its the PCV system. I've replaced the line from the front valve cover to the intake.

I'm getting ready to replace the line on the TB. Wondering if I would have to do any unclogging of where it connects.

So, where does that PCV TB connect to? Does it typically clog or suck up oil?

On the bottom of the throttle body, there is a hose that runs parallel with the intake. It is a larger hose. That hose comes from a oil seperator. I am not to sure how all of that works, but our cars do not have a PCV valve. The oil seperator seperates the oil from vapor, letting the vapor escape to the intake to be burned. That is a reason our intakes are so nasty and need cleaned so often.

However, 500 miles to a quart. If you were burning that, there would be smoke. NO doubt. That is almost oil injection IMHO. I would double check for leaks. I know you said there are none, but all of our cars leak somewhere. Espically after 160k miles like you have in your sig.

If it is burning it. I say valve seals. There is a product call AutoRX that seems to get good reviews on here. I have never used it, but you may want to search around.

The piston ring grooves are carboned up and rings are stuck. This condition will worsten as time goes by. Hi revs will build crankcase pressure(blowby) multiplying the problem in a already under vented crankcase. The only way to fix this problem is a ring job. There is no crankcase cleaner that will clean decarbon piston grooves.
