I finally got to the dyno (dynojet).
I was expecting around 190-200fwhp.
Mods: VAK, electric exhaust cutout, Dougs X_cal tuning, no sax, K&N panel, flowmasters, removed resonater.
Well, I was in for a surprise:
#1: 175/178
#2: 184/184
#3: 176/178
#4: 172/174
Heres the kicker:
#1 was with the 87 octane program, and the cutout open. :oogle:
#2 was with the programming returned to STOCK!
#3 was stock programming, with throttle opened up to approx. 3/4 :corn:
#4 was back to 87 programming with the exhaust cutout CLOSED (only pull I had with it closed)
This is screwed up
A couple points of interest: I really wanted to run w/out the VAK, but didn't. With my Odyssey being suspect, I wonder...
Also, I have noticed for the last month that occasionally, the throttle will stick a tad... mostly only noticeable after the car has sat and I am feathering the throttle when backing out.
ABS light was on during each pull... I assume this is normal?
Thoughts?

Looks like you're too lean too. I dyno'd a couple of weeks ago and only found 4 hp with the cut-out. There just isn't any hp to be gained in the exhaust. And the tuning needs to be customized for each car in my opinion.

ya know, the more I look at the graph, the more it looks as if I needed to start WOT BEFORE 3800 RPMS. The 2 pulls with Dougs programming look as if torque was dropping when the dyno recorded the info.

If you battery voltage is dropping much below 12V then the fuel pump and coils will be affected.

What was the ambient temp?

it was probably about 75 degres F.
BTW, I was watching the volts gauge somewhat. As I approached redline, the battery light was faintly flickering, and the gauge was reading ~14 volts. Of course with everything going on, I'm sure I didn't watch the gauge and battery light the whole time...

I'm really sure that if you re-dyno with a bit better quality fuel (high test) your numbers will be different.

Wow! Those #'s are horrible. I not too farmiliar with v8's but it was ~90* and 70+ humidity when I put down 237 & 206 with my cammed 3.2. I would guess there's something seriously wrong with your car.

I would send your chip back with the dyno graph with the same explanation you put here and ask them to fix it cause something obviously isn't right in the tuning..

After this, I am OVER it (but I'll probably get over it,though  )
Thats why I hope my wifes Maxima is totaled... I'll give her this boat... er I mean, Taurus. And I'll take the insurance check and go shopping :naughty:
I forked out $109 for that disgusting day (45 minutes) at the dyno. I need to be slapped in the face if I plan to get it retuned and redyno'd 1, 2, or even 3 more times... just to try and hit 195 or so lousy fwhp. Heck, I could install a zex kit for the price I WILL be looking at.
However, I have already talked to Doug about it and he plans to evaluate the dyno and fix the problem.

you should change the shift/lock schedule->trans_shift_schedule 2-1 downshift curve to all 8's and then change the 3-2 curve to all 20's. After that you should make the 3rd gear unlock curve all 20's as well. this will prevent a downshift above 20 MPH and keep the tranny locked in 3rd. You should get to above 25 MPH on the dyno and then go to WOT. Make note of the original settings so you can change them back.

Since you don't have the PRP you couldnt do that but if the dyno was a SCT dealer they could have. How many miles is on your tranny, I would suspect you lost a few hp if its over 100K.

What do you mean by #3 with the throttle 3/4 open
You mean you never put it to the floor at all?
Why was this done?

there was a discussion a while back regarding how the car "feels" stronger hitting it (from a stop) at 3/4 throttle instead of WOT. I also read on the v8sho mailing list that Kirk D. "proved" this to be true on the dyno... so much that he modified his throttle cable (shortened it).
I certainlty "feel" it... when the secondaries open up, it feels like a small shot of nitrous.
So I tested this phenomenon.
Granted, you probably would need to make multiple runs to find the sweet spot... if it is indeed true

I had a "nice scare yesterday... I pulled onto the road and goosed it... when I let off the throttle (WOT) the engine stayed at WOT  ... so I quickly flipped the pedal with my foot thinking the floormat was the culprit... no luck. Now I start to panic... my thought process was a blur, I threw it into neutral, and duh!, redline is pegged (rev limiter deleted via the XCal):doofus:. I quickly threw it back into D and hit the brakes... holding the pedal firmly... as I reach a point to get out of the road safely, I turn the ignition OFF. I pop the hood... the vacuum hose from the VAK managed to bind the throttle linkage
Now I can only wonder if the vacuum hose was obstructing the throttle while I was on the dyno...
I'm such an idiot :banghd:
