Nope. Mother nature has not been very kind. Also the engine hoist kinda broke but Hamal will give more detail on that.

We'll just say that:
- I made a most unfortunate call in judgement and bought my engine hoist at Harbor Freight. You get what you pay for, kids.
- I made another unfortunate judgement call and didn't stop working when I was too tired.
- Andrew's reflexes are seconded only by his cats.
- The combination of the falling hoist tossing the '92 off of the jack stands (which slowed the tip-over considerably), the Coleman 12x12 pop-up getting in the way (that thing was a champ this weekend), and the soft muddy ground all conspired to save my engine and transaxle from catastrophic destruction upon hitting the ground.
That's all I got. Back to you, Andrew.

I know how to inspect and repair the hoists if you want me to look at it some day if its worth keeping around. Not sure how much they go for. Glad all is well I had a hoist fail on me many years ago when working with a fan unit just inches from the roof. I just got enough hangers on when it let go it only fell a little and not to the floor.

The hoist went to the crusher today with the 92 shell. I got out of the way just in time not to get crushed. Just nicked my leg a little.

Im pretty sure the one we use at Daves to lift cars and shit is a HF special... Guess you got screwed or we got luck on quality of the batch.

Man, that musta been fun. I had a job driving a couple to JFK last summer. A tire that I had patched failed on the way down but held enough air to get me to the next rest area on the Pike.
I have a full size and a donut spare so I let the clients out and get to work on changing the tire. Being very hot and me wanting to be quick, I didn't notice I had the scissor jack UPSIDE DOWN. So the back end of the car was resting on this tiny point. Amazingly, I noticed this as I tightened the last lug and the jack toppled over when nothing was left to do. I quickly surmised that I am a fortunate dumbbum and I pulled the jack out as though I let it down and none was the wiser. Got mah peeps back in and we were on our way.
As for Harbor Freight, I buy from them on things my life does not depend upon. So rags, gloves, creepers and light tools, sure. For hoists, jacks, stands? No way...
