My radio seems to be uncapable to properly read a cd.
If it's a brand new original cd, and I'm parked on a pillow, it plays. Sometimes the cd ejects a couple times in a row.
Even the smallest bump makes it skip.

Is there any other model number that will fit and plug in into the JBL system ?
I think the player is on it's way out. Maybe I could find another one.
Thanks

I think it's time to get an aftermarket head unit.

My thoughts as well, You could try to find a newer unit, or someone to pull yours apart and clean it, but you'd probably spend more than a new aftermarket would cost.

(I recommend Pioneer if you go aftermarket, I LOVE their radios :salute:)

My stock CD is beginning to not work properly. I have taken it apart and cleaned it and nothing has worked. New and used units off of Ebay are close to $80. As much as I want to keep my entire car stock I am finally leaning toward installing an aftermarket head unit in the car.

I put the slave CD player into my SHO out of a '98 Mustang. It has been working great for the last 8+ years. Burned CD's, old ones, ect.

I think they updated the internal technology between my original '95 and the '98 unit I have in there. It is plug and play.

I do want an aftermarket system.
But I want to install a 7" touch screen, and a PC in the car. So this project is for another time.
As of now, I just want something that works. Plus the sound quality is way better than in most cars. (stock JBl sound system, but with upgraded bass : 500watt rms subwoofer amp and 2x 10" sub in a sealed box)

So a 96-99 CD player from a mustang will work ? Does it says JBL on it, or anyone should fit ?

It should work. Just make sure the display is the same color. I think the 96-99 Mustangs had the blue-green display like the Gen 2 SHOs have. My friend's dad used to have a 98 GT convertible and it had the same color display. I know some Ford units have the green display, but those may be in the Lincolns and the Exploders.
