i got my fel pro 9821pt today but it is only one gasket... for some reason I misunderstood and thought it was a set. it does say replaces E9DZ 6051 A if that helps anyone. sorry webcam photo...
Does the Fel Pro have any part marking on the gasket surface? I assume it has the two orange rubber rings on the ends.

I took a closer look at the VR set I received and inside the shipping box was in was a Napa box. There was a label inside the sealed plastic that said Made in Japan.
Tompumped, could you post a picture of what the Ford gaskets look like when you get them?

No problem, i'll post the pic when I get the gaskets.

I'd like to believe all made in japan gaskets are OEM. That's good to know the VR set has them.

I'm curious what camshaft seals they include in the set. Apparently many people have had issues with fel pro seals. The dnj seals I used leaked and the dnj valve cover gaskets were junk. For some reason they swelled up and when I tried to reuse them they didn't fit back in the groove. The material wasn't black IIRC it was grey.

timken/national camshaft seals with anaerobic sealer work everytime. The only issue I had was with private label national seals, they were made in taiwan and the damn things leaked.

That will be great if you can post pictures, then we will know what the OEM ones look like. I took a look again at the cam seals through the sealed plastic and compared them to a set of Ford cam seals I have and they are the same (I could just make out the number markings on one of the cam seals so your assumption may be correct.

I got the victor and the oem gaskets today. I opened up the oem gaskets first and one was slightly damaged, because of the way it was packaged. I'm not sure how I would've packaged loose head gaskets, and it is what it is. Instead of just sandwiching the gaskets between card board then taping it it was folded over and rolled into the card board then the ends were folded over. When one fold was made on the end it slightly wrinkled the radius of the graphite surrounding the orange o ring on one corner.

I will take pictures tomorrow when I go back to my father's house and hopefully someone here who knows more about the gasket construction can point me in the right direction. To me it's common sense, if you open a package and you can see three different layers because the wrinkle made the layers peel away slightly, maybe it's not good. Granted that spot is only an oil return and it will probably squish down and be fine.

I'm not to be ****** at the seller, because he came through when I needed a variety of shims years back, not to mention if these are oem 90 shipped is a good deal. I just hope they are oem.

I ended up leaving disgusted before I could take pics and compare them side by side to the victor hg's. I can not believe how bad my luck can be at times and what a gigantic shit show this is turning out to be. Thanks for the input and info

Its possible that some head gaskets fail due to re-use of the original head bolts. Think about replacing those, they are torque to yield (yield means the metal is starting to stretch). Have seen many a set on Ebay.

I ordered a set this time, but as far as I know they aren't tty head bolts. At least that was the general consensus years ago when I did the research.

Either way for thirty dollars i'd buy four sets not to have to do it again.

One very important thing included with the new v/r bolts was a piece of paper saying don't dip the bolts in oil you can ruin the block. I don't remember the rest, but iirc it said oil the washers and lightly oil the threads. You'd think the oil would escape past the threads, but it causes hydraulic lockup.

I worked over twelve hours today so I didn't stop by my father's house to take pics, but I will

Aldrich saw this post and offered a replacement, but I want to post pics first and get other peoples opinions. He slid the gaskets in after folding the card board over, and the only thing I can think of is it was slammed around. I guess uneven pressure around the edges plus rough shipping caused it, because other than that it was inside another box and packaged well

I'm not sure if it's worth risking it, but i'm not going to try it.
I'm very happy to say the VR head set as pictured is made in japan, so I got oem gaskets for cheap. I never thought something would actually work out in my favor.

I'm posting this pic so you can see that i'm speaking the truth Aldrich. It wasn't the vr gaskets, i'm an honest person. Thank you for the fast response and offer, i'd like to take you up on that offer and i'm willing to pay the shipping. I'd even ship this one back to you. I need another good gasket for my spare motor.

I'd probably be ok using this one, but why go through the entire spare engine I have only to have an oil leak.

I just found this on the box, and the only label included in the package was that one picture I posted which said made in Japan.

It looks like i'm going to be building my spare motor and not selling the kit. I just opened it.

Camshaft seals are NOK, i'm amazed that this is all oem. I'm not sure which color valve seals go where but i'll find out.

The picture of the label for VR gasket set is identical to the one I bought awhile back and came in the Napa box. So you must have got a great deal if you were able to get an additional discount from the seller.

So do the OEM gaskets looked identical (color and the spots on the gasket surface) to the VR ones.
