Heres the story

Saturday Day took the sho out running fine. then went to take it out that evening and it just cranked...trying to start. did it a few times and would get it to run for a short time. smelled gas bad.

when it did start all of the guages were acting funny. no rpm reading and it was running. check engine light, shaking(misfiring)
I didnt take the sho out and left it there for the night

Came back sunday morning it starts right up and runs fine.
Then i stop some where for a couple hours go back to start it and it only hesitates once/twice with no RPMs.
As i am driving it starts misfiring, check engine light and no RPM reading
Ran really bad, but was able to make it home

Anyone have this happen before or have any idea of what it is? electrical??

Without being there and looking at it, I would guess Crank Position Sensor. Time for a front or complete 60K. Pull the code set by the CEL.

or you just know

Yes I am very familiar with this issue. True it can be the Crank Sensor, but the crank sensor tends to just die, and the car will not fire. If the cam sensor goes, the car can still be fired and run. Usually not very well, however.

On the Head near the fire wall, to the right of the powersteering pully. It is the round in shape (black) electrical sensor. 5.5mm socket will be needed to remove it.

I just did mine this past weekend...same exact problem your having. No rpm reading, bad hesitation and hard starting. I would let a couple mins pass then try again and it would start and run fine. I replaced it and everything is OK now.

takes about 10 minutes....mostly to unbolt the power steering resevoir and the torque limiter (lil strut looking thing bolted to the strut tower) so you can weasel your hand in there to get a friggin socket on it.

yea...its no time at all. I was very happy when i found out that was the problem cause you really dont have to dig too deep to get to it. It was easy.

They might have given you the crank sensor. This is what you need right here.

Tell em you want a "cam sensor" they wont have it in the system as CID or Cylinder Identification module.
