I have a '90 MTX that i picked up and about two weeks after it started shifting very stiffly and the grinding into gears even when i had the clutch pushed to the floor, especially in reverse. I've noticed it is very driveable, but first gear seems to be very notchy and stiff along with the other gears. The stiff shifting and grinding seems to get alot worse when the car is warm and has been running for a long time, when its cold it doesnt grind but is still stiff. I cannot shift quickly when i take it to high RPM's, it takes a good push. I have been babying the clutch and barly ever have done this. When i bought the car i could shift it into the gears with just one finger. The tranny was re-built less than a year ago and about 1k miles (id have to look on my reciepts for sure). I called the owner and he said the tranny was built very well and he said that 99% that its the throw-out-bearing, and that he has had problems when the re-built trans and new stock clutch and TOB was put in. Is the problem the TOB?
