Car - 94 ATX - 111K miles
Symptoms: OD cut in and out intermittently for a while - popped out of OD
on cruise- hitting the switch would get it back. Then the switch
would work sometimes - then not at all. Had the trans
serviced - seemed to help a little but now OD is totally failed.
The rest of the trans shifts OK.

I've had the car parked for a whilefor various reasons but now I'm getting ready to put it back on the road.

Anyone have any ideas other than outright rebuild?

If the rest of the tranny is working as it should, I would bet you have a broken C-clip for the O/D servo. It is a simple fix(cost less than $1) Take the driver tire off, the O/D servo cover is the one located( dvr side along the firewall, down low by the PS rack, take the 3- 8mm bolts off and you will see the you have broken the c-clip that sits right there. replace it and you got O/D again. get the broken one out of the tranny. While you there you might as well replace the fluid/filter if it has been awhile. :thumb:

I believe there is a thread on shotimes.com about this. ;)

theres a slight chance it could be the wiring for the o/d button in the shifter too, but most likely the c-clip there.
