2013 with 147k miles, bone stock. been getting p0420 and sometimes p0430 for a couple months now but everything seemed to run great.
Getting on the interstate yesterday and once I hit about 50mph the engine felt like it was restricted and I couldn’t accelerate anymore. Rpm’s wouldn’t go above 2k even with the pedal on the floor, and then it died. Tried to restart and it will idle rough for a few seconds and then die. Tried a few times while waiting for the tow and it was the same each time. Checked codes while waiting and now I also had a p0131.

When the flatbed arrived at my place with my car he started it to back it off the truck and it seemed to idle mostly smooth until he got it off the truck and then turned it back off. Tried to start it again to pull it in my garage and it’s back to rough idle for a few seconds then dying. No white smoke or strange noises. Checked codes again and now it shows p0420, p0430, p0131, and p0299-00.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where to start troubleshooting this?

P0420 - Bank 1 Cat Efficiency (Plugged Cat or Bad Sensor?)
P0430 - Bank 2 Cat Efficiency (Plugged Cat or Bad Sensor?)
P0131 - O2S Circuit Low Voltage (Wire/Sensor damaged from an overheated Cat?)
P0299 - Turbo Underboost (Damaged Exhaust, or a long list of other issues?)

All exhaust related or can be caused by the exhaust. What do your cats look like?

I mean they look like they’ve got 147k on them in a cold weather state. Can I test this by dropping the cats and seeing if it runs with no exhaust?

It could be a start. You can try pulling the O2 sensor out and letting it exhaust through there. If you drop the Cat, you will need 4 new gaskets. Replacing the O2 sensors could be a good start anyways. They are higher mileage and at least one has a voltage issue. Pull the front 2 and see how the car runs. You can also check the volume of exhaust coming out the back. Did you ever notice the Cats glowing from the heat? Usually, if they are that clogged, they will get really hot.

Ok I’ll try pulling just the sensors thanks for the tip. And no I had not noticed them glowing hot but I rarely drive at night

pulled both upstream o2 sensors and the car started and ran much better. I shut it off after 30-45 seconds. It would only run for 5-6 seconds with the sensors installed and then it would die on its own…. So safe to say clogged cats I guess?

Without the upstream set, sounds like cats gone bad. The worst part the 3rd is un-monitored and could be bad as well. Others in these forums have indicated it can get clogged too.

Next, you could try pulling the downstream out, if it runs, it is a later blockage (third cat, something stuck in the resonator or mufflers). If it doesn't run, I would suspect the primary cats are plugged.
