I think most 'normal' SHO's run in the 'AL' range of normal on the temp gauge (which is quite unreliable).
Considering the mileage on your car, you might want to start thinking about the 60K service, which usually includes a new t-stat and coolant temperature (ECT) sensor (the gauge uses a separate temperature switch). If your engine is indeed running cold, the t-stat could be sticking in the open position, which ultimately causes an over-rich mixture, which leads to lousy gas mileage and can eventually cook your catalytic converters.
If you just want to replace the t-stat and electronics, a RT-1112 t-stat runs ~$26, the ECT runs ~$35, and the temp. switch about ~$7.
If you're unfamiliar with the 60K service (which technically on a Gen 2 (93-95) is due at 100K, do a search in the forum on 60K and you'll learn everything you ever wanted to know about $** maintenance.
