Recently its been really, really hot out here in Chicago and my car has been running pretty hot as a result. If I don't have the AC on, it will run over 210 degrees pretty quickly. Is this normal? What degree is considered dangerous to run at for a SHO motor? I know 195 is the temp at which the Tstat opens, it seems really hard to get my car to stay at that temp, though, it just runs right up to 210 for the most part. Anyone?

Well on stock form the fan comes on somewhere in the range of 210-215F so it sounds like your OK yet. My car will run just over 210 on a hot day in traffic.

I run at 200 in the Texas heat, but when there's traffic or a lot of stop and go, it stays around 210.

Autometer reads 210 in traffic...ur fine...fan kicks on right at 210 on my gen 1. Rolling down the highway police grille...same weather...I'm running just about 190 to 195 depending on when that t stat opens

When was the last time you changed your coolant and flushed the system? Might be time. All sorts of goo can form in there over time.

I use water wetter. But as long as you have a 192F t-stat and a fan that comes on at 210F it won't lower the temp.
